The CNMI girls indoor team will reach the final stretch of their fundraising activities with another carwash charity event on Oct. 24 from 9am to 12noon at the Shell gas station in Puerto Rico.<\/p>\n

The Girls All-Stars have been holding various fundraising activities to come up with the money that would cover the costs for them to compete in the Under-19 Girls High School Volleyball Championships set from Oct. 29 to Nov. 1 in Guam.<\/p>\n

Carwash tickets will be available from the nine players and the two coaches who would accompany them on the Guam trip. Tickets cost $5 each for advanced purchase and $10 for drive-in.<\/p>\n

Northern Mariana Islands Volleyball Association president Laurie Peterka said the CNMI girls U19 team still needs to raise another $1,200.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou can support them by buying carwash tickets, which will go on sale near the end of this week,\u201d Peterka added.<\/p>\n

Last Sunday, NMIVA held a fundraising event from 10am to 4pm at the Hyatt Regency Saipan beachside where various activities like a 4-person co-ed beach volleyball tournament and serving rally where held.<\/p>\n

Peterka said last Sunday\u2019s event were two-fold where they hope to raise $1,000 from various events involving the general public and $1,800 from the serving rally.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe CNMI All-Stars needed a total of plus or minus $7,000 for the Guam trip. Some money was already raised earlier this year. The remaining amount is more or less $3,600,\u201d said Peterka.<\/p>\n

She said that the one-day beach volleyball tournament and general donations collected approximately $600 while pledges for the girls\u2019 team\u2019s serving rally raised $1,800.<\/p>\n

Danica Camacho, Marcy Ann Ermitanio, Julia Ishikawa, Emily Jones, Sabrina Pangelinan, Zarinae Sapong, and Jennifer Tan joined Gechig and Hudkins on the nine-member CNMI girls team with Codie Sayles and Kathy Winkfield as coaches.<\/p>\n

Peterka added that since the Marianas Interscholastic Sports Organization\u2019s season is on hold, NMIVA is planning to organize a volleyball jamboree in November.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
