She has many relatives living there. I asked if they had recovered from the typhoon. I was shocked to find out that many people still do not have electricity! Is this the norm? Was this just an exceptionally strong typhoon? In this area we have had some catastrophic hurricanes, even having the eye cross right over us. We have never been without power for two months (and counting).<\/p>\n<p>This time frame would never be tolerated here. Is the government doing as much as they should? What about people whose homes were destroyed?<\/p>\n<p>I guess my concern is, a tidal wave in India sparks concern and outpouring of relief efforts from around the country. Typhoon Soudelor was news for a few days or a week and yet much of the island is still suffering.
