{"id":212596,"date":"2015-10-16T04:00:38","date_gmt":"2015-10-15T18:00:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=212596"},"modified":"2015-10-16T04:00:38","modified_gmt":"2015-10-15T18:00:38","slug":"joyner-ready-for-miss-international-pageant-in-tokyo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/joyner-ready-for-miss-international-pageant-in-tokyo\/","title":{"rendered":"Joyner ready for Miss International pageant in Tokyo"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>At a time when calls to help increase Japanese arrivals to the CNMI are growing, 2015 Miss Marianas Jian Joyner will be representing the Commonwealth in Japan\u2019s largest international pageant with preparations starting tomorrow.<\/p>\n<p>Jian joins 70 delegates from around the world in the 55th Annual Miss International Pageant in Tokyo, scheduled for Nov. 5 at the Tokyo Grand Prince Hotel New Takanawa.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am honored and excited to be representing our CNMI, help bring positive light to one of our largest and steadfast tourism markets, and continue to share the beauty and hospitality of our islands,\u201d said the 21 year-old beauty queen. \u201cI have worked very hard, been preparing for weeks now and I feel I am ready to represent our islands to the best of my ability.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Joyner just returned from Tokyo with the Marianas Visitors Authority to promote the islands at its largest travel expo, Japan Association of Travel Agents.<\/p>\n<p>The International Cultural Association or ICA, the main organizer for the pageant, expects 2015 Miss International pageant contestants to serve as \u201cAmbassadors of Peace and Beauty,\u201d demonstrating benevolence, friendship, beauty, intelligence, ability to take action, and, most importantly, a great international sensibility.<\/p>\n<p>According to ICA, it has played an important role in advertising tourism in Japan by widening the circle of goodwill activities of each country\u2019s representative.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, Miss International established the \u201cMiss International Fund,\u201d which donates money to underprivileged children around the world through UNICEF and other charity institutions.<\/p>\n<p>The pageant will have four main areas of competition: national costume, swim wear, evening gown, and question-and-answer.<\/p>\n<p>Joyner\u2019s national costume represents the beautiful sunsets of the Marianas, with spectacular golden rays as a headpiece and adornment, and a two-piece red orange sparkling gown with sheer arm cuffs that extend in a Japanese kimono style.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI chose to represent the famous beauty of our islands\u2019 sunsets interwoven with my Japanese heritage,\u201d said Joyner.\u00a0 \u201cIt is a unique piece that is sure to stand out and promote our Marianas as a warm, inviting place with indigenous and diverse cultures.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI would like to thank my parents, Dr. John and Yasuko Joyner, my brother Jehn, my friends and family and the amazing volunteers at Stellar Marianas for helping me prepare for this pageant\u2014I truly appreciate it and I hope to make you all proud,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n<p>Stellar Marianas, the islands\u2019 nonprofit pageant and talent group, has this year the following sponsors: Delta Air Lines, MVA, Triple J Motors, IT&amp;E, Pena House Boutique, Iridescent Boutique, Gold\u2019s Gym Saipan, Dickerson &amp;
