HONOLULU\u2014A 45-year-old man is receiving treatment in Oahu after being medically evacuated from Midway Atoll last\u00a0Saturday.<\/p>\n
An HC-130 Hercules airplane crew from Air Station Barbers Point flew more than 1,300 miles from Oahu to Midway to complete the medevac of a man suffering from severe abdominal pain.<\/p>\n
Watchstanders at the Coast Guard Joint Rescue Command Center Honolulu received a medevac request from Dan Clarke, the atoll\u2019s refuge manager, regarding the contractor.<\/p>\n
The duty Coast Guard flight surgeon was briefed and recommended a medevac based on the patient\u2019s condition. The Hercules crew launched from Air Station Barbers Point at\u00a01:30am\u00a0Saturday.<\/p>\n
The Coast Guard partnered with a Disaster Medical Assistance Team from Honolulu who provided inflight care.<\/p>\n
The patient was safely transferred at\u00a05:50am\u00a0to awaiting EMS at Air Station Barbers Point for further transport to Queen\u2019s Medical Center. He is reported to be in stable condition.<\/p>\n
