{"id":212634,"date":"2015-10-19T06:06:25","date_gmt":"2015-10-18T20:06:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=212634"},"modified":"2015-10-19T06:06:25","modified_gmt":"2015-10-18T20:06:25","slug":"uscg-medevacs-man-from-midway","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/uscg-medevacs-man-from-midway\/","title":{"rendered":"USCG medevacs man from Midway"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>HONOLULU\u2014A 45-year-old man is receiving treatment in Oahu after being medically evacuated from Midway Atoll last\u00a0Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>An HC-130 Hercules airplane crew from Air Station Barbers Point flew more than 1,300 miles from Oahu to Midway to complete the medevac of a man suffering from severe abdominal pain.<\/p>\n<p>Watchstanders at the Coast Guard Joint Rescue Command Center Honolulu received a medevac request from Dan Clarke, the atoll\u2019s refuge manager, regarding the contractor.<\/p>\n<p>The duty Coast Guard flight surgeon was briefed and recommended a medevac based on the patient\u2019s condition. The Hercules crew launched from Air Station Barbers Point at\u00a01:30am\u00a0Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>The Coast Guard partnered with a Disaster Medical Assistance Team from Honolulu who provided inflight care.<\/p>\n<p>The patient was safely transferred at\u00a05:50am\u00a0to awaiting EMS at Air Station Barbers Point for further transport to Queen\u2019s Medical Center. He is reported to be in stable condition.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis mission demonstrates the flexibility, professionalism and dedication of Coast Guard crews who are ready to respond to any call for assistance,\u201d said Lt.
