Sixty-five years ago, Snoopy, the World Famous Flying Ace, first took to the skies. In celebration of his larger-than-life adventures, Delta on Thursday bestowed the beloved beagle with the title of Honorary Delta Pilot during a ceremony at the Delta Flight Museum.<\/p>\n

Snoopy reached his dream to earn his pilot wings in advance of the Nov. 6 release of the 20th Century Fox film, \u201cThe Peanuts Movie.\u201d

\nJoining Snoopy in the induction ceremony were Craig Schulz, Writer and Producer of \u201cThe Peanuts Movie\u201d; Steve Martino, Director; and the talented voices behind Charlie Brown, Lucy, the Little Red-Haired Girl and Franklin.<\/p>\n

John Boatright, president of hte Delta Flight Museum, welcomed the guests on behalf of Delta people worldwide, along with Delta pilots and flight attendants; students from KIPP Metro Atlanta Schools and The Ron Clark Academy; and the Pope High School Marching Band and Flag Line from Marietta, Ga.<\/p>\n

In addition to receiving his wings, Snoopy was presented with an Honorary Pilot Certificate signed by Captain Steve Dickson, Delta senior vice president-Flight Operations.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are thrilled to celebrate the upcoming release of \u201cThe Peanuts Movie\u201d and the history of an iconic family brand,\u201d said Boatright. \u201cSimilarly, the Delta Flight Museum advances the exploration of aviation history and the future of flight. We are proud to salute those who share our mission.\u201d<\/p>\n

Martino noted that flying has been a large part of his life, including during his work on \u201cThe Peanuts Movie.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cDelta has been my commute from JFK to San Francisco,\u201d said Martino. \u201cIt\u2019s also wonderful to have a chance to visit Delta\u2019s great museum. When I first walked in, I was amazed.\u201d<\/p>\n

Schulz, who is a private pilot and instructor, also shares a love for aviation.<\/p>\n
