School wins Aqua Resort pumpkin-carving contest"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Tanapag Elementary School won Aqua Resort Club\u2019s Halloween pumpkin-carving contest this year.<\/p>\n<p>According to food and beverage manager Rom Manzon, Tanapag\u2019s carving, which features a fish and a taga stone, received 42 votes from ARC\u2019s diners and guests during the two-day voting period last Friday and Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>The winning school will receive $1,000 in educational tax credit as their prize.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe will present to them the certificate soon,\u201d Manzon said.<\/p>\n<p>Chacha Oceanview Middle School placed second with their beach scene carving that garnered 37 votes. Garapan Elementary School came third with 32 votes.<\/p>\n<p>Other participants were Gregorio T. Camacho Elementary School, Marianas High School, Oleai Elementary School, Hopwood Jr. High School, San Antonio Middle School, and San Vicente Elementary School.<\/p>\n<p>Pumpkin carving, traditional to Halloween celebrations, has been part of ARC\u2019s Oct. 31 revelries for about five years, said Manzon.<\/p>\n<p>ARC also had a costume contest among its staff, with hotel guests serving as judges for the best costume on Halloween night.<\/p>\n<p>Anna Rose, who dressed up as a \u201cpirate\u2019s whore,\u201d won $100 after getting the most number of votes.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Tanapag Elementary School won Aqua Resort Club\u2019s Halloween pumpkin-carving contest this year.
