Joseph Lee Pan T. Guerrero (R-Saipan) has introduced a bill to rename the San Antonio Middle School after Francisco Mendiola Sablan, the school\u2019s first principal and a former CNMI representative.<\/p>\n<p>House Bill 19-106 renames the San Antonio Middle School as the \u201cFrancisco Mendiola Sablan Middle School.\u201d The bill provides that a new sign bearing the school\u2019s new name will be \u201cprominently and permanently attached\u201d to the main building or affixed at the main entrance of the campus.<\/p>\n<p>The bill says that Sablan\u2019s esteemed working career has benefited the entire Commonwealth, most especially the residents and community of San Antonio Village.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUpon the opening of San Antonio Elementary School, Mr. Sablan served as its principal from 1971 to 1985,\u201d the bill states. \u201cPrior to serving as\u2026principal, he served as a congressman in the Mariana Islands Legislative District.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The bill say Sablan has spent a majority of his professional career in the education field and renaming the middle school\u2014the former San Antonio Elementary School\u2014would honor Sablan for his years of service.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Rep.
