The CNMI Department of Lands and Natural Resources\u2019 Division of Fish and Wildlife released yesterday the 2015 Wildlife Action Plan for public review and comment. The plan lays out a 10-year strategy for proactive conservation and management of the CNMI\u2019s fish and wildlife resources.<\/p>\n
The Wildlife Action Plan belongs to CNMI residents across all islands and reflects broad community input. It brings individuals as well as public and private organizations together to work toward shared conservation goals by identifying and recommending conservation actions that participants can implement that will also help them meet their own goals and needs. DFW\u2019s own conservation efforts are guided by the WAP.<\/p>\n
The WAP has three overarching goals for the 10-year life of the plan:<\/p>\n
1.<\/strong> Maintain fish and wildlife populations in sufficient abundance and distribution to meet the needs and values of the people of the CNMI, over the next 10 years and beyond. The 2015 CNMI Wildlife Action Plan is available for download from the DFW website at http:\/\/www.cnmidfw.com\/2015wap. Print copies are available for review at the Saipan DFW office, the Tinian Mayor\u2019s Office, the Rota DLNR office, and public libraries on all three islands. The public is invited and encouraged to review and comment on the plan.
