{"id":213949,"date":"2015-11-06T06:00:04","date_gmt":"2015-11-05T20:00:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=213949"},"modified":"2015-11-06T06:00:04","modified_gmt":"2015-11-05T20:00:04","slug":"next-week-is-veterans-awareness-week","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/next-week-is-veterans-awareness-week\/","title":{"rendered":"Next week is Veterans Awareness Week"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Acting governor Ralph DLG Torres signed yesterday a proclamation declaring Nov. 8 to Nov. 15 as \u201cVeterans Awareness Week.\u201d Veterans Day is next Wednesday on Nov. 11.<\/p>\n<p>The proclamations pays tribute to all veterans of the United States Armed Forces, and the service and sacrifice of all those who have bravely worn the uniform of the Armed Forces.<\/p>\n<p>The proclamation calls all CNMI citizens to recognize the bravery and sacrifice of veterans through ceremony and prayer, and to encourage everyone to display their flags and support and participate in patriotic activities next week.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur country is forever indebted to our veterans for their courage and exemplary service,\u201d Torres states in the proclamation. \u201cWe also remember and honor those who laid down their lives in freedom\u2019s defense. These brave men and women made the ultimate sacrifice for our benefit. On Veterans Day, we remember these heroes for their valor, their loyalty, and their dedication. Their selfless sacrifice continue to inspire us today as we work to advance peace and extend freedom around the world.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe salute their services, honor their sacrifices, and honor them for supporting this nation in every hour of need. And we acknowledge that freedom\u2019s cost continues long after the guns fall silent. Many of our veterans bear the disabilities and scars of military service. The families of those who never returned from their service live always with a profound sense of loss.
