{"id":214088,"date":"2015-11-09T06:06:31","date_gmt":"2015-11-08T20:06:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=214088"},"modified":"2015-11-09T06:06:31","modified_gmt":"2015-11-08T20:06:31","slug":"temp-casino-grand-opening-on-nov-27","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/temp-casino-grand-opening-on-nov-27\/","title":{"rendered":"Temp casino grand opening on Nov. 27"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Mark Brown, the chief executive officer of Best Sunshine International, Ltd., said Friday piling is ongoing at the construction site of their $500-million casino resort in Garapan, and that the completion date is still on target for December 2016. Meantime, Best Sunshine has scheduled Nov. 27 as the grand opening date of their temporary casino in T Galleria.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe piling is going in. We are still on target,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Brown said Ji Xiabao, project director of the casino resort project and son of the principal stakeholder of Imperial Pacific, which owns Best Sunshine, is \u201calways tweaking the look\u201d of the Garapan facility and that it would turn out spectacular.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s unbelievable. So we are set right now, it\u2019s done,\u201d Brown said, noting that U.S. architect Paul Steelman has settled on his \u201cmasterpiece.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe\u2019s tweaking the door, he\u2019s tweaking this\u2026Mr. Ji is such a perfectionist and Paul Steelman is more of a perfectionist. He travels the world and he builds buildings all over the world, so he is trying to build something that\u2026also fits into the island at the same time\u201d\u2014something related to the island culture.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c\u2026We want to wow everybody,\u201d Brown said. \u201cIt\u2019s something you have never seen before on this island. That\u2019s what we are building.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Grand opening<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>When asked, Brown confirmed Nov. 27 as the official grand opening of their temporary casino at T Galleria.<\/p>\n<p>Brown said he had been weighing the pros and cons about having it on \u201cBlack Friday,\u201d the day after Thanksgiving, but has heard that people want to go out after shopping during Black Friday sales.<\/p>\n<p>Unlike their \u201csoft\u201d opening, he wants the \u201cofficial government grand opening\u201d where they will have acting governor Ralph DLG Torres, the Commonwealth Casino Commission, and the CNMI Legislature.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are going to invite the entire government,\u201d Brown said. \u201cAll the government and everybody that has helped us get to this point. All the local business people that have helped us get to this point.
