{"id":214615,"date":"2015-11-16T06:06:54","date_gmt":"2015-11-15T20:06:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=214615"},"modified":"2015-11-16T06:06:54","modified_gmt":"2015-11-15T20:06:54","slug":"paws-saipan-cares-for-animals-join-forces","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/paws-saipan-cares-for-animals-join-forces\/","title":{"rendered":"PAWS, Saipan Cares for Animals join forces"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Saipan&#8217;s two major animal groups, PAWS and Saipan Cares for Animals,\u00a0combined earlier this week, as PAWS\u00a0transferred their non-profit status to Saipan\u00a0Cares for Animals,\u00a0creating the new non-profit group called Saipan\u00a0Cares for Animals, CNMI.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are so grateful to PAWS for their help,&#8221; said Jason Hudy, who was elected president of the non-profit. &#8220;For many years PAWS has done wonderful things to\u00a0help the island&#8217;s animals\u00a0and with their help in transferring the non-profit status to us, we hope to carry on their good work.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The non-profit status will help the group with funding, but as vice president Beth Pliscou said, the goal of the group remains the same.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The non-profit status is a big step forward, but still what we need most are local Saipan residents to volunteer at the shelter, even an hour a week, to walk the dogs and local Saipan residents to adopt these animals and give them good homes,&#8221; said Pliscou.<\/p>\n<p>November is &#8220;Adopt a Senior Pet Month&#8221; and is a great time to adopt a new best friend.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The Mayor&#8217;s Office has waived adoption fees, and the registration fee is only $10, so for 10 bucks you can provide a great animal a wonderful home, an animal that will give you countless hours of happiness as well,&#8221; said Hudy.<\/p>\n<p>You can message &#8220;Saipan Cares for Animals&#8221; on Facebook to set up a time to visit the shelter, which is located in Lower Base down the road from Sparkle Clean.
