{"id":214823,"date":"2015-11-18T06:06:19","date_gmt":"2015-11-17T20:06:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=214823"},"modified":"2015-11-18T06:06:19","modified_gmt":"2015-11-17T20:06:19","slug":"kages-to-get-temporary-transformer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/kages-to-get-temporary-transformer\/","title":{"rendered":"KagES to get temporary transformer"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Kagman Elementary School may soon get its power back.<\/p>\n<p>More than three months after Typhoon Soudelor hit Saipan, KagES is still not on the grid because of its different distribution system for power.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey have a ground-based transformer. That school, whoever built it, was designed that way,\u201d Commonwealth Utilities Corp. public information officer Brad Ruszala said, adding that CUC does not own the transformer in KagES.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat we will do is bring power along our lines and connect it to the ground transformer,\u201d Ruszala said.<\/p>\n<p>According to KagES principal Dr. Ignacia Demapan, they are working on getting a temporary transformer while they wait for a permanent replacement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have already ordered our transformer from off-island,\u201d Demapan said.<\/p>\n<p>She added that loaning a transformer that belongs to the Department of Public Safety is currently in the works.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOn Thursday one of the companies will proceed with having that transformer transferred to our school,\u201d Demapan said.<\/p>\n<p>She added that power restoration depends on how fast the people will work on it; however, a certification has to be made before CUC can energize the school.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cInstead of being able to power them up right away, we won\u2019t be able to power them until they pass some certification,\u201d Ruszala said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Kagman Elementary School may soon get its power back.
