However, the Sonics began pulling away in the second half behind its balance offense to oust KB Market.

Ryan Esmundo paced the Sonics with his 12 points, while six of his teammates added at least 6 points each in their 17-point victory. Andrew Palino was the lone bright spot in the KB Market side, recording a game-high 26 markers.

MJD 90, Maplas 83 OT
In the open division game last Friday, MJD Enterprise survived a scare from Maplas, pulling off a 7-point win in overtime.

MJD trailed in the majority of the first half and was still behind, 57-63, entering the final canto before Freddie Pelisamen and Ron Gamboa saved the day for the team. Pelisamen scored 11 points in the fourth period, while Gamboa nailed the squad’s last basket in regulation.

In overtime, MJD leaned on Jack Tarragoza to foil Maplas’ upset bid as the benchwarmer knocked in 6 of his 10 markers in the extension. Cecilio Bisana added 4 points, while Pelisamen and Gamboa chipped in 2 each. Only J.P. Villanueva scored for Maplas in the extra five minutes of play.

With MJD slipping past Maplas, it finished on top of the East Group with its 6-1 record, while the latter dropped to a 1-4 slate.

Blue Haus 84, Armatech 52
In the masters game last Friday, Blue Haus cruised past Armatech to improve to a 2-1 record.

Edsel Mendoza and Tony Diaz gave Blue Haus a good start, combining for all of their 20 points to give their team an early double-digit spread, 20-8.
