A 31-year-old man accused of downloading on his laptop 226 videos depicting child pornography pleaded guilty yesterday in federal court as part of a plea deal.<\/p>\n
Vincent M. Songsong pleaded guilty to an indictment charging him with one count of possession of child pornography. He will be sentenced on March 11, 2016.<\/p>\n
The offense carries a maximum penalty of 20 years imprisonment, a $250,000 fine, a $100 special assessment, and a three-year supervised release.<\/p>\n
U.S. District Court for the NMI Chief Judge Ramona V. Manglona required Songsong to remain in the custody of the U.S. Marshal until his sentencing.<\/p>\n
Songsong told the court that he downloaded child pornography videos on his computer, not knowing the consequences of doing so. He said he did not watch all 226 videos.<\/p>\n
He is represented in the case by Colin Thompson, his court-appointed counsel.<\/p>\n
Assistant U.S. attorney Russell Lorfing said that, from Feb. 17 to 25, 2014, Songsong downloaded all the 226 videos and installed them in a folder.<\/p>\n
Lorfing said that Songsong knew that the video involved the use of a minor\u2014specifically, a prepubescent minor or a minor who had not attained 12 years old\u2014engaging in sexually explicit conduct.<\/p>\n
The prosecutor disclosed that at least four victims had been contacted, but only three will be pursuing restitution against Songsong.<\/p>\n
The amount of possible restitution is $5,000, for a total of $15,000 for the three victims.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
