Marvin Seman, who led Saipan\u2019s recovery and restoration efforts as chief of the CNMI Homeland Security and Emergency Management, has resigned as HSEM\u2019s special assistant.<\/p>\n
Press secretary Ivan Blanco confirmed Seman\u2019s resignation with Saipan Tribune last Friday.<\/p>\n
Blanco said Seman tendered his resignation just last Thursday, citing personal reasons.<\/p>\n
In a follow-up press release, it stated that Seman resigned \u201cto tend to immediate family matters.\u201d<\/p>\n
His resignation will be effective on Friday, Dec. 11.<\/p>\n
\u201cI accepted special assistant Seman\u2019s resignation to allow him the opportunity to tend to the immediate needs of his family. I have also asked that he remain onboard until Jan. 11 to ensure the smooth transition for the acting special assistant for homeland,\u201d acting governor Ralph DLG Torres said.<\/p>\n
\u201cDuring this transition period, I have also asked special assistant Seman to serve in other capacities that the administration deems his special skills can be utilized,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
Seman was appointed special assistant to HSEM in 2010 to take over the restructuring of the former Emergency Management Office.<\/p>\n
According to the Inos administration, Seman modernized the buildings, emergency response capabilities, and ensured the highest level of training was provided to each of his emergency response team members.<\/p>\n
The administration also noted that there were many emergency cases where Seman responded alongside first responders in a timely and professional manner.<\/p>\n
