To ensure there is no misunderstanding regarding the dollar figures cited in my recent letter to the editor, I want to ensure readers understand that no funds\u2014from either the U.S. or the government of Japan\u2014have been committed to the proposed action being studied under the CNMI Joint Training EIS, other than funding for the study itself.<\/p>\n
The $300 million Japanese contribution is part of a total of over $900 million \u201cidentified for the CNMI\u201d and both figures are for planning purposes only. No funding commitments can, or will, be made before a Record of Decision.<\/p>\n
