(Contributed Photo)\n\t\t\t\t<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\t\t<\/div>\n<br \/>\nChristmas spirit filled the air last Saturday as beautifully embellished Christmas floats lined the streets of Garapan for the Christmas in the Marianas float parade. Colorful and brightly lit floats representing the holiday season\u00a0brought Christmas cheer to onlookers.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Best Sunshine\u2019s corporate social responsibility team and the Tourist Oriented Policing Section or TOPS partnered to create the largest non-competitive float for the Christmas in the Marianas float parade.\u00a0The partnership between CSR and TOPS is dedicated to the revival of the\u00a0Koban\u00a0project and the float\u2019s design was centered on promoting the return and revamp of the TOPS program.<\/p>\n<p>Rita\u00a0Chong,\u00a0BSI corporate social responsibility director, said,\u00a0\u201cWe already have\u00a0an\u00a0established partnership in place with TOPS.\u00a0Together, we are currently working on\u00a0a project here in Saipan\u00a0to revitalize the tourist district\u00a0in western Garapan.\u00a0As\u00a0part of our partnership, we\u00a0made an agreement\u00a0that\u00a0for\u00a0every event taking place in Garapan, we would collaborate with\u00a0TOPS.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The CSR team and TOPS participated in multiple activities such as Christmas caroling, decorating the \u201cChristmas Village,\u201d and building the largest non-competitive Christmas float for the annual parade, as well as assisting with the program every\u00a0Saturday\u00a0night. A few of the CSR members also assisted TOPS in decorating their lobby for the DPS Decorating Battle, which won them first place.<\/p>\n<p>Members of CSR and TOPS worked alongside each other to organize, plan, and create a float made\u00a0from recyclable and donated materials.\u00a0Donated wooden palettes,\u00a0outdated\u00a0newspapers, old fabric, and toys\u00a0were turned into Christmas embellishments as the float slowly came together.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve established partnerships in the past, but nothing has met the caliber as big as this,\u201d said Sgt. Jeff\u00a0Olopai, commander of the DPS Criminal Bureau of Investigations. \u201cWe are thankful that Best Sunshine\u2019s CSR team has been helpful and we look forward to working with them on future plans.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Chong\u00a0responds, \u201cThey\u2019re really fun to work with. They are highly professional people, and great role models for my staff. These people help keep our neighborhoods safe and free from criminals. We are coming from two different worlds in regards to profession, but we have\u00a0meshed really well together\u00a0because we share the same vision with regard to the tourist district.
