{"id":217246,"date":"2015-12-23T06:00:42","date_gmt":"2015-12-22T20:00:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=217246"},"modified":"2015-12-23T06:00:42","modified_gmt":"2015-12-22T20:00:42","slug":"shrm-nmi-sets-annual-conference-on-dec-29","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/shrm-nmi-sets-annual-conference-on-dec-29\/","title":{"rendered":"SHRM NMI sets annual conference on Dec. 29"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Society for Human Resource Management NMI Chapter announced yesterday that its 2015 Annual Conference\u00a0will be held on Dec. 29 at the Pacific Islands Club\u2019s Charley\u203as.\u00a0All SHRM members and other interested HR and management practitioners are invited to come and enjoy this final meeting of 2015.<\/p>\n<p>The one-half day program will feature acting governor Ralph DLG Torres as its main speaker.\u00a0 Torres will discuss the ongoing push for 902 talks with the federal government and what the business community can expect in the coming year. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>This year\u203as program will cover two topics. Attorneys Maya Kara and Bruce Mailman will join the morning session to address the increasingly significant issue of visa options for nonresident workers.\u00a0After lunch, attorney Mark Hanson will speak on the topic of determining an employee\u2019s overtime status.<\/p>\n<p>Both issues are of current interest and significance to all HR professionals and managers.\u00a0These topics will help bring HR practitioners up-to-date on the visa and green card process, as well as help properly classify employees to ensure compliance with the law.<\/p>\n<p>This lunch meeting will be held at the\u00a0PIC Charley\u2019s on Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2015, from 8am to 2pm.\u00a0The program will open with registration and morning snacks at 8am, with the welcoming remarks at 9am, followed by the morning program.\u00a0There will be a break for lunch at 11:30am to 12:30pm with the acting governor\u203as address, followed by the afternoon program.<\/p>\n<p>This presentation is open to the public and will be an invaluable opportunity for employers and HR professionals and staff to better understand their visa options and the process for determining overtime status.<\/p>\n<p>The presentation includes the PIC lunch buffet at the cost of $30 for SHRM members and $40 for non-members.\u00a0Seats are limited, so reserve your seat by contacting\u00a0Micah Parico-Acuavera by phone at 234-1795 or by email at\u00a0corpoffice@triplejsaipan.com\u00a0or by email to Frank Gibson at\u00a0flgibson@yahoo.com.<\/p>\n<p>SHRM is the world\u2019s largest association devoted to human resource management.
