U.S. District Court for the NMI Chief Judge Ramona V. Manglona has revoked the pretrial release of Alexandro Castro Macabalo for smoking methamphetamine or \u201cice\u201d and violating other pre-trial conditions.<\/p>\n
At a hearing late Monday afternoon, Manglona found that Macabalo violated her conditions of pre-trial release and that no condition will reasonably assure her appearance in court.
\nManglona ordered Macabalo to be detained pending trial. She was remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshal.<\/p>\n
Assistant U.S. attorney Garth Backe, as counsel for the U.S. government, asked the court that Macabalo be detained pending trial for violations of her pre-trial release.<\/p>\n
Backe called to the stand the U.S. government\u2019s witness, U.S. Probation officer assistant Juanette David-Atalig, who testified that Macabalo tested positive for the use of \u201cice\u201d during a random drug test last Dec. 3 at the defendant\u2019s home on Saipan.<\/p>\n
David-Atalig said Macabalo also failed to appear for a scheduled group counseling last Dec. 12 and also did not attend her mental health appointment at the Commonwealth Health Center last Dec. 11.<\/p>\n
Macabalo also failed to report to the U.S. Probation Office and failed to submit to location monitoring, she said.<\/p>\n
The U.S. Marshal Service arrested Macabalo last Thursday.<\/p>\n
Macabalo is facing a charge in federal court for enticing her then-15-year-old cousin to engage in sex for cash with a government official in 2013. She is being represented by court-appointed counsel Bruce Berline.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
