Guerrero and Education Commissioner Dr. Rita A. Sablan have the same Christmas message to the people of the CNMI: To maintain a positive attitude despite a challenging year.<\/p>\n<p>Guerrero and Sablan gave their Christmas messages yesterday during the annual Christmas Breakfast Around The World gathering at the PSS Central Office grounds in Susupe.<\/p>\n<p>With most of the world in a festive mood this time of year, Guerrero said it is also good to take time to remember the good things that happened.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt has been a challenging year for the [Public School System] and the entire CNMI but we should also celebrate the season,\u201d he said. \u201cIt is also a time to reflect and count your blessings\u2014blessings that came despite the challenges we faced.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Sablan highlighted the need to sustain the holiday spirit. \u201cDespite all the hardships and challenges we\u2019ve gone through, we must continue the spirit of caring, giving, hope, love, and sharing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Christmas Breakfast Around The World celebration started in 2009 and has become an annual tradition during the holiday season.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis event started when our office was still on Capital Hill in 2009. It began with just a gathering with light refreshments but every year everyone gets motivated to showcase their skills inside the kitchen. It can even be expanded into a contest,\u201d said Sablan. \u201cIt is a world-themed breakfast party where we have fun, enjoy each other\u2019s company, and for the camaraderie.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The event was also attended by Delegate Gregorio Kilili C. Sablan.<\/p>\n<p>Teams were assigned continents to come up with the food their chosen country is known for. One table offered \u201ccrocodile\u201d and \u201ckangaroo\u201d hotdog sandwiches to represent Australia, while the Asia team offered pajeon (Korean pancake), a Japanese yam cake, and other desserts washed down by the citrus fruit dalandan.<\/p>\n<p>Africa had Moroccan kebabs, North America\u2014particularly the United States\u2014offered omelets and potatoes while South America had tamales, salsa, beans, and sweet fruits with a dash of spice. The CNMI table offered barbecued ribs, titiyas, chicken kelaguen, and rice.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>CNMI State Board of Education chair Herman T.
