{"id":218543,"date":"2016-01-13T06:06:23","date_gmt":"2016-01-12T20:06:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=218543"},"modified":"2016-01-13T06:06:23","modified_gmt":"2016-01-12T20:06:23","slug":"cw-permit-delays-also-affecting-bsi","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/cw-permit-delays-also-affecting-bsi\/","title":{"rendered":"CW permit delays also affecting BSI"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Best Sunshine International, Ltd. is also facing the same challenges with the processing of the Commonwealth-only work permits.<\/p>\n<p>According to senior vice president for operations Donald Browne, they had to notify a few of their staff that they can\u2019t report for work yet because of pending CW permits.<\/p>\n<p>Although many of their foreign worker staff are just new on island and have new permits, Browne said they have some that were for renewals also.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have new, we have ones that have transferred, and ones that we\u2019ve hired, that were on island already,\u201d Browne said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe face the same challenges as everybody else. It\u2019s at the forefront of our discussions every day,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>For new hires, Browne said they have at least 50 pending CW applications for the gaming staff.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe haven\u2019t been fortunate to have any done in 90 days, to be honest with you. One hundred twenty days seem to be a more\u2026from beginning to end, 120 days,\u201d Browne said.<\/p>\n<p>BSI would need to bring in more staff as they intend to open December this year.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re doing the best we can to train U.S. people here on island to perform those duties but we just have so many positions and we\u2019re going to have 1,500 or 2,000 more in the year,\u201d Browne said.<\/p>\n<p>He added that it\u2019s going to be a mix of local and foreign workers but they can\u2019t train everyone to fill those positions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe can\u2019t train that many,\u201d Browne said. \u201cWe\u2019re going to train as many as we can, get them in the field here.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Aside from the staff, BSI would need about 2,000 workers for the construction and completion of the upcoming Grand Mariana Casino &amp; Hotel Resort at the Garapan site.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt some point, we\u2019re going to need about 2,000 construction workers,\u201d Browne said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo finish work, we\u2019re going to need a lot more. Right now, because it\u2019s just pile driving\u2026it\u2019s not full force. When we do the frame structure, that\u2019s when we bring in full workers,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>When asked where they will get the workers, Browne said they will bring in from wherever they can.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe will get bodies from wherever we can.
