Tenorio Multipurpose Center in Susupe. (Jon Perez)

Close to 200 local residents trooped to the Pedro P. Tenorio Multipurpose Center yesterday to join the first day of Kensington Hotel Saipan’s job fair, which ends today from 2pm to 6pm.

E-Land Group Human Resources and Customer Service director Ginger Choi said that more than 300 positions are needed to be filled in the culinary, food and beverage operations, sales and marketing, front office, recreations, finance, human resources, housekeeping, and engineering.

“This is our first job fair. Before we keep on looking through online and other various channels to hire workers for the hotel. Right now, it is person to person and talk to the applicants,” added Choi.

She added that anyone could apply. “Since we’re going to open the hotel this year, we’re really looking for a lot of people to fill the positions available. We’re not discriminating anyone, anyone can apply as long as he or she has the skills for the job.”

Kensington Hotel Saipan Human Resources manager Vivian Deleon Guerrero said applicants who passed the initial screening and interview would then be called for a second interview.

“They would still go through the whole process. We need to screen everyone who is applying for a job. Applicants, so far, today [Wednesday] are high. We haven’t checked the list yet, but we think that it is already close to 200,” added Deleon Guerrero.

She said that applicants must first register as they enter the multipurpose center and all the names are qualified for a mini raffle for the day. “We’ve been giving away some small prizes, gifts to the participants.”

Deleon Guerrero said they expect more applicants today, the final day of the job fair. “People have been lining up since early [Wednesday] morning. Even when our staff were still putting up the decorations and setting up the tables and chairs.”

“We told them they would [have to] wait a little longer since the job fair starts at 2pm. So they decided to come back. We expect more people [today].”

She said that most of the applicants are in the food and beverage department, front desk personnel, and kitchen staff.

“Kensington is a service- oriented business so we are looking for people who share our passion and who are motivated in helping us in promoting this philosophy.”

Close to 200 local residents trooped to the Pedro P.
