A Delta Airline flight bound for Saipan was cancelled last Saturday following a need to emergency land, news reports say.<\/p>\n
In an article by Agence France Presse-Jiji published in several news sites including Japan Times, a Delta plane made an emergency landing shortly after taking flight. <\/p>\n
\u201cA Delta passenger jet bound for Saipan made an emergency landing at Narita International Airport in Chiba Prefecture on Saturday,\u201d the report said.<\/p>\n
The report added that an airport official said that smoke was \u201cdetected\u201d in the cabin and the Boeing 757-200 with 97 crew and passengers on board was forced to return to the said airport near Tokyo.<\/p>\n
No one was injured due to the incident.<\/p>\n
The airport temporarily closed when the plane returned, and all the crew and passengers evacuated safely, the report said.<\/p>\n
\u201cDelta is investigating the incident,\u201d the report added.<\/p>\n
Saipan Tribune contacted Delta Airlines but was unable to get a response as of press time. <\/p>\n
Delta.com lists Narita-Saipan flight DL 0298 that was supposed to arrive at 3:10pm on Saturday as cancelled. Saipan-Narita flight DL 0297 was also cancelled that day. <\/p>\n
Commonwealth Ports Authority executive director MaryAnn Lizama confirmed that a Delta flight was cancelled last Saturday adding, however, that she did not know about an emergency landing.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
