Police arrested last week a woman who allegedly used a check that was left in a rental car that was being used by her brother, who was then vacationing in Guam. <\/p>\n
Eloise Margaret Jones Castro, 31, was taken to Superior Court yesterday for theft.<\/p>\n
Associate Judge Joseph N. Camacho imposed a $10,000 cash bail on Castro.<\/p>\n
Preliminary hearing will be on Feb. 2.<\/p>\n
Assistant public defender Cindy Nesbit was appointed as counsel for Castro.<\/p>\n
Police detective Andrew S. Taimanao said Castro allegedly met with the owner of an auto repair shop during the first week of this month.<\/p>\n
Castro allegedly gave the shop owner a check payable to Justin J. Locke worth $2,000 as down payment to fix her car.<\/p>\n
Castro told the shop owner that Locke is her brother who is vacationing in Guam.<\/p>\n
The shop owner agreed to give $350 cash to Castro because the latter\u2019s friend usually sells him car parts.<\/p>\n
Castro, however, later asked for more money and the shop owner gave her a total of $700.<\/p>\n
