Perry Tenorio<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Perry Tenorio, Marianas Visitors Authority managing director, has expressed his intent to leave the top post of the CNMI\u2019s tourism body, following two decades of service there and close to a decade as managing director.<\/p>\n

Tenorio announced his intent to move on from MVA in a Jan. 26 letter to the tourism board. He is expected to depart by March 25 this year.<\/p>\n

\u201cI greatly appreciate the trust and confidence the MVA board of directors placed in me to manage the MVA and its assets,\u201d Tenorio said in his letter. \u201cThis momentous task would not have been possible without the board\u2019s guidance and direction, and for this, I am truly grateful and honored.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt has been a great experience serving the board and the our travel industry partners these past nine and half years.\u201d<\/p>\n

Tenorio said he has been honored to work alongside management and staff of Saipan, Tinian, and Rota\u2019s MVA offices, as well as with their offshore team, AviaReps, calling this MVA team \u201ccapable and instrumental\u201d in rebuilding the CNMI travel industry.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn light of the importance of the travel industry, I will begin transitioning the management of the MVA to the deputy managing director [Judy Torres] and encourage the board to appoint my successor at the earliest convenience. In this regard, my tenure as managing director will end no more than two months from the date of this letter; or sooner following the appointment of my successor.\u201d<\/p>\n

Tenorio has worked at the visitor\u2019s authority for 21 years. He has weathered some criticism from lawmakers for a dwindling Japanese market, but was praised by Gov. Ralph DLG Torres administration officials yesterday for a data-driven approach that helped secure the groundwork for where MVA stands today.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
