{"id":220455,"date":"2016-02-09T06:00:04","date_gmt":"2016-02-08T20:00:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=220455"},"modified":"2016-02-09T06:00:04","modified_gmt":"2016-02-08T20:00:04","slug":"red-cross-thanks-partners-donors","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/red-cross-thanks-partners-donors\/","title":{"rendered":"Red Cross thanks partners, donors"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Officials from the Hawaii and California offices of the American Red Cross visited Saipan to thank some of their partners and donors during the wake of Typhoon Soudelor.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey are out making a visit kind of a post-Soudelor. Its really to thank the donors, to thank all of our volunteers,\u201d ARC-Northern Mariana Islands chapter executive director John Hirsh said.<\/p>\n<p>Among those that they visited was Coral Ocean Golf Resort where they met with operations director Dennis Seo and E-Land\u2019s Micronesia Resort Inc. chief executive officer Matthew Park.<\/p>\n<p>Hirsh praised the resort\u2019s efforts after Typhoon Soudelor saying that they were among those who responded first and provided water for the people in need. <\/p>\n<p>Red Cross Pacific\u00a0Division vice president Michael Jordan they are proud of the work that they were able to do on Saipan.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn behalf of the Red Cross and our donors and our partners, we\u2019re really proud to say that we\u2019re able to contribute and commit $5.5 million toward the response and recovery efforts,\u201d Jordan said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe outpouring support of the community and our partners has been incredible,\u201d he added. <\/p>\n<p>Jordan recognized, however, that there are still work to be done.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAfter the initial response, providing food and shelter and comfort, care items, now it\u2019s the recovery phase and so we\u2019re working on case management and with our partners and Federal Emergency Management Agency to try to help take care of those folks and get them to the right partners in the community to help them rebuild their lives,\u201d Jordan said. <\/p>\n<p>He added that emotional healing for the people is also needed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s almost six months post-Soudelor and the staff and volunteers that I had a chance to talk to are still emotionaly, even though physically it looks like things are getting better, I think emotionally there\u2019s still a lot of work and a lot of healing in the community,\u201d Jordan said.<\/p>\n<p>Aside from Jordan, ARC-Hawaii chapter chief executive officer Coralie Chun Matayoshi and chief development officer Jennifer Dotson were also on Saipan for the visit.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Officials from the Hawaii and California offices of the American Red Cross visited Saipan to&#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":51,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[4],"tags":[2459,9490,67,6333],"class_list":["post-220455","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-local-news","tag-american-red-cross","tag-michael-jordan","tag-people","tag-typhoon-soudelor"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/220455","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/51"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=220455"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/220455\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=220455"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=220455"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=220455"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
