{"id":220878,"date":"2016-02-15T06:06:25","date_gmt":"2016-02-14T20:06:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=220878"},"modified":"2016-02-15T06:06:25","modified_gmt":"2016-02-14T20:06:25","slug":"unified-response-to-unexploded-ordnance-at-the-port-of-saipan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/unified-response-to-unexploded-ordnance-at-the-port-of-saipan\/","title":{"rendered":"Unified response to unexploded  ordnance at the Port of Saipan"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>SANTA RITA, Guam\u2014On Feb. 12, 2016 the CNMI Homeland Security &amp; Emergency Management and the U.S. Coast Guard Marine Safety Detachment (MSD) Saipan, responded to a discovery of a WWII UXO at the Port of Saipan.<\/p>\n<p>On the afternoon of Feb. 12, 2016, Sector Guam received a report from MSD Saipan of the discovery of a UXO located at the Commonwealth Port Authority in Tanapag Harbor, Saipan. The UXO was revealed during the excavation for a pipeline construction project. A Unified Command (UC) has been assembled which is led by CNMI Homeland Security &amp; Emergency Management and the U.S. Coast Guard. A safety zone is in place around the buried UXO and the Commonwealth Ports Authority Police is ensuring the area is secure.
