They had already launched the slogan contest and applications are still available for candidates for the 2016 Royal Court.

“This is a community event, so we want to involve the community in the planning process. I’m sure new ideas would come up that could make a difference in the way we celebrate, that’s why we are encouraging the people to participate,” said Leon Guerrero.

“We’re taking in proposals in advance and everything will be discussed by the committee. All programs and events are being planned. We have to top last year’s celebration” added Alvarez.

The committee said that they are just a small think tank but they wanted to make this year’s festivities another memorable one to all. The kick off of the month-long Liberation Day celebration is on June 10, and festivities will last until July 9.

Saipan Mayor’s Office special assistant Henry Hofschneider said that plans of bringing back the Liberation Day carnival are up for discussion.

“Nothing is final yet but we’re already reaching out to the vendors. We want to have a festive mood and more activities for the people to enjoy. We must all work together for another successful Liberation Day celebration,” Hofschneider added.

Leon Guerrero said advanced planning also helps the committee, giving them ample time to make any adjustments on the events lined up for the celebration.

Applications for the float parade are also now available at the Mayor’s Office. The float must reflect the theme on the survivors’ way of life after the war. More details will be discussed and released by the committee in the coming days.

Those who are interested can email their suggestions to ldcccnmi@gmail.com.

The 2016 CNMI Liberation Day committee said they are open to suggestions and is encouraging…

[4
8581,271,67,1507
post-220928","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-local-news","tag-christopher-leon-guerrero","tag-liberation-day","tag-people","tag-saipan-mayor
["GET
