Reyes Elementary School Parents Teachers and Students Association president Ed Arriola is hoping that organizers of next year’s Family Fun Night would add more attractions to the annual event.

Hundreds of families and individuals joined Friday’s event and they were treated to songs and dances, while enjoying local food and other tasty treats at the school grounds in Chalan Kanoa.

“It was my first time to attend the event as a parent and as the PTSA president. I was impressed with the turnout and support shown by the community,” said Arriola.

“The organizers did an awesome job and thank you to all the staff and to everyone who became part of this project, from the planning stages to the day of the event itself,” added Arriola.

He said other attractions could be added for next year, making it more fun and enjoyable to kids and adults alike.

“The important thing is the kids had fun. You can see them running around playing and enjoying the activities. The entertainment was also good and it showcased the talent of our youth,” Arriola said.

WSR students, the Marianas High School Chamorro Club, and students of Hopwood Junior High School were some of the performers that entertained the crowd with songs and dances.

“I thought of new ideas that we could do for next year in order to make it more fun-filled. Hopefully, we could add carnival-style rides. There are lot of different things that we could add for next year and hopefully we could expand it.”

Friday’s Family Fun Night is the PTSA and school’s fundraising event that would help fund repairs at WSR and other projects.

One of PTSA’s projects for this year is to build a special waiting area for the parents and legal guardians of the kids at the north, central, and south wings of the school since WSR is one of the most heavily populated elementary schools on the island.

Ray Austin (vice president), Calle Eichenberger (secretary), and See Cabrera (treasurer) are the other WSR PTSA officials.

WSR thanks parents, the community, Kanoa Resort, Pacific Islands Club, the Governor’s Office, Grants Management Office, Lt. Gov. Victor B. Hocog. Reps. Ralph Demapan and John Paul Sablan, Sens. Sixto Igisomar, Jude Hofschneider, and Justo Quitugua, D&Q, Let’s Go Tour Company, KZMI, and See Leung for their help in making the WSR Family Fun Night possible.

William S.
