Eligible residential customers of the Commonwealth Utilities Corp. will have another round of credit from unused Best Sunshine International, Ltd. utility vouchers.<\/p>\n
According to CUC chief financial officer Matt Yaquinto, they are redistributing approximately $1.9 million worth of credits to the same customers who were part of the voucher program.<\/p>\n
There are 15,730 accounts that were determined eligible during the first distribution last October 2014.<\/p>\n
This brings the credit to about $120 per account. <\/p>\n
Eligible accounts are active and inactive CUC residential accounts with a service location and meter on residential property as of Oct. 10, 2014.<\/p>\n
The vouchers were supposed to expire Oct. 31 of last year, but CUC decided to ask the Office of the Governor for an extension and it was approved so the vouchers were made available for use until March 1.<\/p>\n
Yaquinto said customers may be able to see the credit reflected in their billing \u201chopefully in the next months.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cIt will be as of March 1st but they just won\u2019t see it actually on their bill until a little bit later,\u201d Yaquinto said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhen they get their March bills, or it might not show in their March bills, it might show in later bills, but it will be reflected as if it was in place in March,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
The total $10 million in credit vouchers came from BSI as a gift to Saipan utility customers and part of BSI\u2019s community chest fund, which the company had vowed to release 60 days after it was issued an exclusive license to build a casino resort on Saipan. <\/p>\n
Each eligible household were initially credited the amount of $635.71 in their accounts. <\/p>\n
Not everyone was able to use the vouchers, however, especially those who didn\u2019t have utilities after Typhoon Soudelor.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
