Ralph DLG Torres proclaimed March as \u201cDevelopment Disabilities and Employment Awareness Month\u201d to recognize that local communities are stronger when \u201ceveryone participates.\u201d Torres encourages people to get to know someone with a disability, recognize their ability at work, and see what she or he has to offer.<\/p>\n<p>Torres attended a conference of the CNMI\u2019s Disability Network to sign the proclamation yesterday morning and called people with disabilities one of the most overlooked work forces in the community.<\/p>\n<p>The proclamation says the theme for the awareness month is \u201cAbility at Work.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The CNMI Council on Development Disabilities, the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation and the Disability Network invites the community to \u201cconsider the true meaning\u201d of the this month\u2019s theme.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c\u2018Ability at work\u2019 encourages people to understand that when people with disabilities are welcomed into local neighborhoods, workplaces, houses of worship, and schools everyone wins,\u201d the proclamation states.<\/p>\n<p>The proclamation urges the employment of qualified individuals with disabilities, maximize opportunities for skills training, break down barrier that prevent integration and full inclusion, and embrace the talents people with disabilities bring to the table.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Gov.
