{"id":222603,"date":"2016-03-09T06:06:50","date_gmt":"2016-03-08T20:06:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=222603"},"modified":"2016-03-09T06:06:50","modified_gmt":"2016-03-08T20:06:50","slug":"foa-invites-you-to-enjoy-magical-music-of-roman-rudnytsky","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/foa-invites-you-to-enjoy-magical-music-of-roman-rudnytsky\/","title":{"rendered":"FOA invites you to enjoy Magical Music of Roman Rudnytsky"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Friends of the Arts welcomes renowned classical pianist Roman Rudnytsky back to Saipan for another visit.  <\/p>\n<p>FOA will be sponsoring two special concerts next week with Rudnytsky\u2014a rare opportunity to listen to classical music, played by an internationally renowned pianist.<\/p>\n<p>Rudnytsky will be playing in concert Tuesday and Friday next week, March 15 and 18, at the Pedro P. Tenorio Multi-Purpose Center. All programs are open to the public at the cost of $8 for adults and $5 for students. Half of the proceeds will be presented to the CNMI\u2019s Thespians of the Western Pacific Islands scholarship program.<\/p>\n<p>The two programs will include differing selections each night from such classical masters as Chopin, Brahms, Haydn, Gershwin, Mozart, Beethoven, Debussy, Liszt, Rachmaninoff, and other musical greats, performed by a modern day master. Each concert will have different selections of music. The award-winning Marianas High School Glee Club, Rhythm \u2018N Harmony, will open the Tuesday and Friday programs.<\/p>\n<p>Rudnytsky is an internationally active concert pianist of Ukrainian background whose frequent performances take him all over the world\u2014to every continent and places in-between. In addition to performances in capital cities and important musical centers, he often plays in places away from the musical mainstream, bringing the world and pleasure of classical music to audiences which seldom experience this type of music in live performance. He has received much acclaim in the world\u2019s press and many repeat invitations.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>A graduate of the famous Julliard School in New York, he also did additional studies at the Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore, Maryland and at master classes in Austria (the \u201cMozarteum\u201d) and Italy.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Since 1972, Rudnytsky has been a member of the piano faculty of the Dana School of Music at Youngstown State University in Youngstown, Ohio. He is a recipient of that institution\u2019s \u201cDistinguished Professor Award\u201d in recognition of his concert activities. He previously served on the piano faculties of the Indiana University School of Music (Bloomington, Indiana) and the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory, in addition to being \u201cArtist-in-Residence\u201d at two Australian universities.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>During his two-week visit to Saipan, he will travel to\u00a0many of the CNMI schools, playing\u00a0and discussing music with the students.\u00a0This is Rudnytsky\u2019s seventh trip to the CNMI.\u00a0 Rudnytsky travels at his own expense and donates his time to the community.\u00a0 FOA, with the help of sponsors from the community, has hosted Rudnytsky\u2019s stay.<\/p>\n<p>FOA would like to thank the generous sponsors who make this visit possible: Bridge Capital, IT&amp;E, Paradise Island Animal Hospital, Atkins-Kroll Toyota, Hertz Car Rental, Brabu Pharmacy, Triple J Saipan, PHI Pharmacy, Keynote School of Music, Hardt Eye Clinic, CTSI Logistics, J\u2019s Restaurant, Canton Chinese Restaurant, Caf\u00e9 at the Park, and HR Support, CNMI.
