Police arrested on Tuesday in Achugao a man who, while intoxicated, allegedly choked and held the jaw of his common-law wife out of jealousy. <\/p>\n
Eloy Udui Teriong, 29, was arrested for assault and battery, assault, and disturbing the peace.<\/p>\n
At a hearing yesterday, Superior Court Associate Judge Joseph N. Camacho imposed a $1,750 cash bail and set the preliminary hearing for March 16 at 9am.<\/p>\n
Assistant public defender Tillman Clark was appointed as counsel for Teriong. Assistant attorney general Betsy Weintraub appeared for the government.<\/p>\n
Police Detective Daniel Maliuyaf stated in his report that two police officers responded to Achugao after the Department of Public Safety Central received a call about a disturbance on Sunday afternoon.<\/p>\n
Maliuyaf said the victim told him that she and her 1-year-old daughter arrived at a compound in Achugao, where Teriong was drinking beer with his father and two other men. <\/p>\n
She parked the car to let Teriong know that their daughter was not sleeping yet.<\/p>\n
Teriong walked to her and threatened to slap her with a beer can. She was confused so she asked what was going on.<\/p>\n
Teriong then accused her of having an affair, grabbed and squeezed her hand, and asked her to give him a ride to Tanapag beach.<\/p>\n
Teriong started arguing with his father and everybody on the table. She tried to calm him down and told him to get a ride anywhere so he can relax his mind.<\/p>\n
While in the car, Teriong started to get mad again, accused her of having an affair, and allegedly held her jaw and choked her.<\/p>\n
