Aguon Jr. releases the following statement:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cToday, North Korea is believed to possess intermediate\u2010range ballistic missiles, which potentially have the range to carry a nuclear warhead as far as the Philippines and Guam,\u201d said Senator Frank Aguon, Jr. \u201cSo, first and foremost, the THAAD missile battery is our island\u2019s protection against a North Korean missile launch.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The THAAD system is capable of shooting down short, medium, and intermediate range ballistic missiles. THADD is a land\u2010based element that can shoot down a ballistic missile inside and just outside the atmosphere. It uses hit\u2010to-kill technology; kinetic rather than explosive energy destroys the incoming warhead.<\/p>\n<p>Aguon further stated, \u201cThe permanent stationing of the THAAD defense system will most definitely deter Guam\u2019s aggressors, while ensuring sustained protection against any new threats to the Asia\u2010Pacific region.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>With the support of Congresswoman Madeleine Z.
