{"id":222939,"date":"2016-03-14T06:06:19","date_gmt":"2016-03-13T20:06:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=222939"},"modified":"2016-03-14T06:06:19","modified_gmt":"2016-03-13T20:06:19","slug":"womens-summit-held-kanoa-resort","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/womens-summit-held-kanoa-resort\/","title":{"rendered":"Women\u2019s Summit to be held at Kanoa Resort"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Following\u00a0last week\u2019s widely attended Women\u2019s Meet &amp; Greet dinner sponsored by the Women\u2019s Affairs Office, the CNMI Women\u2019s Association has now turned its attention to gearing up for the upcoming two-day Women\u2019s Summit, which will be held\u00a0March 30-31, 2016,\u00a0from 7:30am to 4pm at the Kanoa Resort. The first Women\u2019s Summit was held in 2013.<\/p>\n<p>The theme for this year&#8217;s global campaign is &#8220;Pledge For Parity,&#8221; and the Women&#8217;s Summit will feature two days of presentations, networking, financial literacy workshops, free health screenings, and a job fair for participants. Registration will be capped at 175 participants for both days.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Worldwide, women continue to contribute to social, economic, cultural, and political achievement. \u201cWomen\u00a0have much to celebrate, but we must continue to strive for parity in all areas.\u00a0The 2016 Women\u2019s Summit will explore the question \u2018Why Women? Why Now? Why You?\u2019 and will include speakers from a cross-section of the community,\u201d said Jacqueline Che, Women\u2019s Summit chair and CWA board of director. <\/p>\n<p>This year marks the 105th anniversary of International Women\u2019s Day, a global celebration of the economic, educational, political, and social achievements of women past, present, and future.<\/p>\n<p>To register for the Women\u2019s Summit, please contact Patricia Mareham, CWA Case Worker, at 233-8978 Monday to Friday 1pm-5pm, email p.mareham@cnmiwomen.org, or visit the Garapan Community Development Center next to the Carolinian Affairs Office in Garapan.<\/p>\n<p>More details will be shared and added to the CNMI Women\u2019s Association website www.cnmiwomen.org, Facebook pagewww.facebook.com\/cnmiwomen.org, and other media platforms.<\/p>\n<p>The CWA\u2019s\u00a0mission is to \u201cempower women for leadership as guardians of our guinaha\u00a0(assets); both tangible and intangible; to include political, economic, and social leadership. The CWA provides education and training opportunities, mentorship, advocacy, and information and referral services in a culturally competent and nurturing way.
