{"id":222962,"date":"2016-03-14T06:00:01","date_gmt":"2016-03-13T20:00:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=222962"},"modified":"2016-03-14T06:00:01","modified_gmt":"2016-03-13T20:00:01","slug":"military-conduct-training-w-517-fdm","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/military-conduct-training-w-517-fdm\/","title":{"rendered":"Military to conduct training at W-517, FDM"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>ASAN, Guam<\/strong>\u2014The Navy and Coast Guard will conduct training at Warning Area 517 during the following dates and times: <\/p>\n<p>March 14 from midnight to 11:55pm <\/p>\n<p>March 15-17 from 8am to 10pm <\/p>\n<p>March 18 from 8am to 6:30pm \t<\/p>\n<p>The Navy and Air Force will conduct training at the island of Farallon de Medinilla during the following dates and times: <\/p>\n<p>March 14 and 17 from 9am to 9pm <\/p>\n<p>March 15-16 and 18 from 9:30am to 9pm <\/p>\n<p>The general public\u2014 especially fishermen, commercial pilots, and marine tour operators\u2014are advised to stay clear of the area during the dates and times indicated.<\/p>\n<p>W-517 is activated south of latitude 12\u00b0 40\u2019 00\u201dN. All vessels are advised to remain clear of W-517 south of latitude 12\u00b0 40\u2019 00\u201dN. Santa Rosa Reef and Galvez Bank are open for public use.  W-517 is an irregular shaped polygon comprising of 14,000 nautical square miles of airspace  that begins south of Guam and extends south-southwest in international waters. W-517 supports surface and aerial gunnery, missiles, and laser exercises. <\/p>\n<p>The general location of the training on the island of Farallon de Medinilla will be on a 12-nautical mile radius on all quadrants. Farallon de Medinilla plays a special and unique role in national defense because its location provides frequent access that supports established training requirements.
