Govendo imposed a $1,250 cash bail and appointed assistant public defender Michael Sato as counsel for defendant Anthony Jack Ogumoro.

Ogumoro, 39, is facing charges of assault and battery, and disturbing the peace.

Preliminary hearing will be on March 23 at 9am.

Detective Maliuyaf stated in his report that a police officer was dispatched to the Aging Office last Feb. 29 after receiving a call about a disturbance.

Before the officer arrived at the scene, Ogumoro and his wife, who is also a volunteer at the Aging Office, already left the area.

Based on the officer’s review on the video surveillance footage, Ogumoro was standing at a table and writing something on a paper.

Ogumoro later picked up a trashcan cover near the front entrance door and attempted to swing it at his wife.

Ogumoro instead used his left hand in slapping the face of his wife. He walked out of the front door but the wife stood at the door.

The defendant splashed what appeared to be a cup of water on the wife’s face.

A witness told the officer that prior to the incident, the wife asked Ogumoro why he didn’t answer his phone and later asked who was going to take him.

The witness said Ogumoro picked up a wooden cover of the trashcan, then struck his wife with his hand.
