A man accused of blocking a car on a roadway in Garapan and threatening to kill the driver with a knife has entered a guilty plea and was sentenced to 30 days in prison.<\/p>\n
Eliot Elias, 24, pleaded guilty last week to the offense of assault.<\/p>\n
Superior Court Associate Judge David A. Wiseman accepted the defendant\u2019s guilty plea and the plea agreement.<\/p>\n
Wiseman sentenced Elias to six months imprisonment, all suspended except 30 days.<\/p>\n
Elias was given credit for four days of time served. His release date from the Department of Corrections is April 10, 2016.<\/p>\n
After completing the prison term, the defendant will be placed on supervised probation for one year. He was ordered to pay a $25 court assessment fee, plus probation fee.<\/p>\n
Elias was required to undergo any counseling recommended by the Community Guidance Center and will be prohibited from consuming any alcoholic beverages during the duration of probation.<\/p>\n
According to the factual basis of the plea deal, Elias was drunk and threatened to beat up Waheed Nawaz on Nov. 19, 2015.<\/p>\n
Police detective Nicholas Rabauliman stated in his report that a police officer responded to Sonoda Apartment in Garapan on Nov. 19, 2015, at 9:21pm where a disturbing the peace incident was reported.<\/p>\n
Rabauliman said the officer met with the victim who told him that he was scared because Elias threatened to kill him with a knife.<\/p>\n
The victim said he was on his way to pick up his friend who resides at the Sonoda Apartment.<\/p>\n
While the victim was driving along the roadway, Elias stood in front of the vehicle.<\/p>\n
Elias walked over to the driver\u2019s side window, asked who the victim was and his passenger.<\/p>\n
The victim told Elias that his companion is a worker from his business.<\/p>\n
Elias said he did not care about him or his companion and that he could beat both of them up.<\/p>\n
Elias told the victim to call the police or else he would cut his throat. <\/p>\n
While the victim was calling the police on the phone, Elias allegedly tried to stab him repeatedly with a huge knife.<\/p>\n
A witness blocked Elias and pulled him away from the victim.<\/p>\n
The victim drove to a nearby tennis court, where he waited for the police to arrive. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
