(Contributed Photo)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Jehn Joyner finished the Fall semester of his freshman year at the University of San Francisco by acknowledging his academic excellence as he made it to the Dean\u2019s Honor Roll of the McLaren School of Management.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Peggy Takahashi, PhD, in a letter sent to Joyner last month, informed him of the news. The letter was also sent to his parents Dr. John Joyner and Yasuko Harada-Joyner, who received it just last week.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDean Elizabeth B. Davis and I wish to congratulate you on your notable academic performance, which has qualified you for the Dean\u2019s Honor Roll for the Fall 2015 semester,\u201d wrote Takahashi, the Undergraduate Programs Associate dean at McLaren\u2019s.<\/p>\n<p>Joyner\u2019s USF cumulative and Fall 2015 semester grade point averages were the basis of his inclusion on the Dean\u2019s Honor Roll where the School of Management is recognizes the hard work, talent, and commitment to education of its students.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYour Dean\u2019s List status will be noted on your transcript for the Fall 2015 semester within the coming weeks. Inclusion on the Dean\u2019s List is indeed an honor, and the faculty and staff of McLaren School of Management are very proud of you and your achievement,\u201d added Takahashi.<\/p>\n<p>His father, Dr. Joyner who is an instructor at the Northern Marianas College, and mother Yasuko said that Jehn did not inform them immediately of the great news but chose to surprise them.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe got the news more than one month after he received it. That\u2019s why when we called him he told us that \u2018going to USF has been a great decision of my life.\u2019 We\u2019re really proud of him since he manages to balance his time in sports and academics,\u201d said Dr. Joyner.<\/p>\n<p>The younger Joyner, a Saipan International School graduate, is trying to earn a spot on the USF Dons\u2019 men\u2019s soccer team that plays in the West Coast Conference of the NCAA Division I. His GPA at SIS is near 4.0.<\/p>\n<p>Before choosing USF, Dr. Joyner said that his son had four other universities considering him on their soccer team and one of them is the Saint Leo University in Florida that plays in the Sunshine State Conference of the NCAA Division II.<\/p>\n<p>At USF, Dr. Joyner said, that Jehn was asked by the soccer coaches to form a school-wide organization that would unite the campus in supporting the team.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHis coaches has seen something in him that\u2019s why they gave him that task.
