Music-filled weekend nights in April at the Paseo De Marianas in Garapan will kick off a tomorrow.<\/p>\n
A special slate of music shows at the Paseo will be held every Saturday from tomorrow until April 30 by the Marianas Visitors Authority and PDM Promoters.<\/p>\n
According to MVA Destination Enhancement Committee vice chair Ed Arriola, the events are geared toward promoting culture, particularly the music and sounds, to the tourists walking by in that area in the evenings as well as to residents.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re trying to just capture, especially because it\u2019s PDM, the tourists that walk through there. We would love for as many people in the community to come out,\u201d Arriola said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThat\u2019s what PDM was made for,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
The month-long event is dubbed \u201cMore Music under the Stars\u201d and will feature local performances particularly acoustic live jazz, island, and contemporary music.<\/p>\n
The shows will be from 5pm to 9pm at the center of Paseo.<\/p>\n
This weekend will feature Roman Tudela, the Awoodori dancers, Revive, Uncle Ben\u2019s Studio, and the newly formed island music band Uprooted.<\/p>\n
Arriola said their previous regular events at Paseo such as the Christmas in the Marianas and the International Festival of Cultures, as well as recent ones such as the Chinese and Korean Lunar New Year festival made it clear that events can be successfully held at Paseo.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe know for sure that Paseo can definitely draw a crowd,\u201d Arriola said. <\/p>\n
He added that they would like to work on the other months of the year where there are no regular happenings at Paseo. <\/p>\n
Right now, they already have two more events set for next month.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re looking at two huge events in May and one of them is the Mother\u2019s Day concert,\u201d Arriola said. <\/p>\n
Arriola recognized the PDM Promoters\u2019 and MVA\u2019s board of directors because of their vision which eventually was made reality through them working together.<\/p>\n
