Land back to its new homeport"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>APRA HARBOR, Guam\u2014After a six-month deployment in the Indo-Asia-Pacific region, the submarine tender USS Emory S. Land (AS-39) will return back to U.S. Naval Base Guam (NBG), April 11 around 9 a.m. The ship\u2019s return also marks an official homeport shift from Diego Garcia to NBG.  <\/p>\n<p>Emory S. Land is a forward-deployed expeditionary submarine tender returning from an extended deployment conducting coordinated tended moorings and afloat maintenance in the U.S. 5th and 7th Fleet areas of operations. The submarine tender moved its official homeport from Naval Support Facility Diego Garcia to Naval Base Guam as part of the Navy\u2019s long-range plan to put its most advanced and capable units forward.  Emory S. Land, along with fellow submarine tender USS Frank Cable (AS-40), will support four fast-attack submarines in Guam and other submarines rotating through the region.<\/p>\n<p>The Emory S.
