Bordallo announced that she was informed by the U.S. Navy that they intend to revise their proposal for the leasing of Navy land to develop a solar project on Guam to meet the \u201cGreen Guam\u201d commitment.  In particular, due to the hold that she placed on the project as Ranking Member of the Readiness Subcommittee, the Navy has revised its plans and will no longer use the Tumon Tank Farm property for the proposed solar project. It will retain ownership of that property while discussions about specific Navy land use plans continue.  Congresswoman Bordallo placed a hold on the project in February due to concerns raised by local property owners and Governor Calvo.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI appreciate the Navy\u2019s revised plans to meet their commitment to a \u2018Green Guam\u2019 approach,\u201d said Congresswoman Bordallo. \u201cAs Ranking Member of the Readiness Subcommittee I placed a hold on the proposed project due to local concerns over the project.  I think the Navy used the extra time to better assess its needs and I concur that they can meet their obligations without this property.  I will continue to work with local leaders and the Navy to identify lands to meet the \u2018Net Negative\u2019 commitment \u2013 a critical component of the four pillars committed to by the Department of Defense.
