{"id":226413,"date":"2016-04-27T06:00:19","date_gmt":"2016-04-26T20:00:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=226413"},"modified":"2016-04-27T06:00:19","modified_gmt":"2016-04-26T20:00:19","slug":"coast-guard-seeks-publics-help-locating-owner-dive-float-found-near-punaluu","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/coast-guard-seeks-publics-help-locating-owner-dive-float-found-near-punaluu\/","title":{"rendered":"Coast Guard seeks public\u2019s help locating  owner of dive float found near Punaluu"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>HONOLULU<\/strong>\u2014The U.S. Coast Guard is seeking the public\u2019s help in identifying the owner of a dive float found in the vicinity of Punaluu, Oahu, Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>The dive float is orange with a dive flag and green mesh bag attached to it.<\/p>\n<p>Anyone with information that may help identify the owner of the dive float is asked to contact the Coast Guard Sector Honolulu Command Center at 808-842-2600.<\/p>\n<p>Watchstanders at the Sector Honolulu Command Center received a report at 12:44 p.m. from a good Samaritan who located the dive float on the shore.<\/p>\n<p>Sector Honolulu watchstanders issued an urgent marine information broadcast notice to mariners and launched an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter aircrew from Coast Guard Air Station Barbers Point to search the area.<\/p>\n<p>There are currently no reported signs of distress or missing persons in the area.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Coast Guard encourages owners who lose their water craft and dive gear to report it to the Coast Guard with a good description so that we can eliminate any unnecessary searches,\u201d said Lt. j.g. Christa Funk, a search and rescue coordinator at the Sector Honolulu command center.<\/p>\n<p>The Coast Guard offers free \u201cIf Found\u201d decals to be placed in a visible location on small, human-powered watercraft through the Operation Paddle Smart program.
