A teenager was allegedly found in possession of methamphetamine or \u201cice\u201d after a police officer stopped a car that he stole from a parking lot of a poker establishment in Garapan on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
Police said Mickey Ray G. Deleon Guerrero, 18, provided a written statement admitting to smoking \u201cice\u201d and owning drug paraphernalia that were seized.<\/p>\n
Deleon Guerrero also allegedly admitted to stealing the vehicle with another person, and recklessly driving it to elude arrest. The descriptions of the car were not indicated in the report.<\/p>\n
Police Officer Adrian Mendiola, who stopped the car, immediately recognized the driver as it wasn\u2019t the suspect\u2019s first involvement in a theft of vehicle.<\/p>\n
At a hearing yesterday, Superior Court Associate Judge Kenneth L. Govendo imposed a $10,000 cash bail and set the preliminary hearing for May 11 at 9am.<\/p>\n
Assistant public defender Michael Sato was appointed as counsel for Deleon Guerrero.<\/p>\n
Police traffic investigator Norris Kwon stated in his report that a woman contacted the Department of Public Safety on Wednesday at 4am after her mother\u2019s car was stolen.<\/p>\n
Kwon said investigation showed that the woman parked her mother\u2019s car on Wednesday at 12:30am at JL Poker Garapan, which was across from the house of her friend, whom she had visited.<\/p>\n
After about three hours, the woman found out that the car was no longer in the parking lot. <\/p>\n
At 11:43am on that same day, the woman contacted DPS and reported that she was following the stolen vehicle.<\/p>\n
The victim told dispatch that the stolen car was driving at a high rate of speed and in a reckless manner to elude her.<\/p>\n
Police Officer Adrian Mendiola finally stopped the car at 11:51am by the traffic signal light intersection near Guangdong Hardware. Mendiola recognized the driver as Deleon Guerrero.<\/p>\n
The rear license plate of the car was hidden inside the back seat of the vehicle.<\/p>\n
Mendiola padded down Deleon Guerrero and found from his front pocket a pack of cigarettes containing a white straw with clear residue and a screwdriver.<\/p>\n
Seized from the suspect\u2019s right front pocket was a glass pipe with white burnt residue inside.<\/p>\n
