{"id":229062,"date":"2016-06-02T06:06:16","date_gmt":"2016-06-01T20:06:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=229062"},"modified":"2016-06-02T06:06:16","modified_gmt":"2016-06-01T20:06:16","slug":"unified-resolution-cw-issue-works","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/unified-resolution-cw-issue-works\/","title":{"rendered":"\u2018Unified resolution\u2019 on CW issue in the works"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"attachment_229102\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-229102\" style=\"width: 261px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/Velma-Palacios.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-229102\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/Velma-Palacios-261x300.jpg\" alt=\"Velma Palacios\" width=\"261\" height=\"300\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-229102\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-229102\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Velma Palacios<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The Saipan Chamber of Commerce board has met with the leaderships of the Society of Human Resource Management and Hotel Association of the Northern Mariana Islands on the issue of the current contract worker crisis and is working to draft \u201ca united resolution\u201d on the issue, said Chamber president Velma Palacios.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhile we collaborate to outline the specifics of this document, we wish to state that the Chamber supports a process that will review CW-1 applications so that they are fair and equitable and so that they enhance the economic benefit of the CNMI,\u201d Palacios wrote in the Chamber\u2019s June newsletter. She added that the Chamber supports the law that requires the transitioning of currently qualified CW permit holders to other visa categories, and supports the hiring of U.S. citizens.<\/p>\n<p>The Chamber, SHRM, and HANMI are set to meet with Gov. Ralph DLG Torres and Delegate Gregorio Kilili C.
