(Contributed Photo)\n\t\t\t\t<\/figcaption><\/figure><figure class='gallery-item'>\n\t\t\t<div class='gallery-icon '>\n\t\t\t\t<a href='https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/bsi-csr-helps-give-mhs-facelift\/mhs-pix-8-2\/'>MHS-pix-8<\/a>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<figcaption class='wp-caption-text gallery-caption' id='gallery-1-229314'>\n\t\t\t\tCSR members were more than happy to give back to the largest high school on island especially since some of their team members are MHS alumni.\u00a0(Contributed Photo)\n\t\t\t\t<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\n<p>Last Thursday, the community gathered to witness Marianas High School turn another leaf when it produced graduates in an auspicious ceremony that bore no traces of the damage that Typhoon Soudelor left the school last year.<\/p>\n<p>MHS graduated 335 seniors, the largest batch since 2000, and a ceremony held for the first time outdoors\u2014on a parking lot after typhoon Soudelor damaged the mammoth MHS gymnasium.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo run a school is certainly a community effort as we get ready for our biggest event of the year, our 2016 graduation,\u201d stated MHS principal\u00a0Cherlyn Cabrera. \u201cThis past year, we have been in typhoon recovery mode and the community has really helped us.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>As a part of their self-initiated beautification efforts,\u00a0Best Sunshine International, Ltd\u2019s Corporate Social Responsibility team spent a week and a half cleaning up the largest public school in the CNMI in preparation for the Class of 2016 graduation ceremony.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>As the school and the Public School System Central Office continue to rebuild the MHS gym, the largest in the CNMI, MHS held this year\u2019s graduation on the parking lot.\u00a0The school needed to secure a location that would accommodate the 300-plus graduates as well as their families and friends.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>BSI\u2019s CSR team immediately hunkered down to provide various work throughout the campus, including grass work, repainting of worn down guard rails, recoating faded roadside curb, and disposing off of overgrown green waste left by the typhoon. The team worked tirelessly under the scorching summer sun and managed to complete the work timely for last Friday\u2019s successful graduation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI just want to thank the corporate responsibility team under Geri (Dela Cruz\u2019) leadership. We really appreciate the support, effort, and suggestions on ways to make our campus look better,\u201d shared MHS vice principal Bobby Cruz. \u201cSeeing you guys out here in full force supporting our students, the future of the CNMI, that\u2019s really what it\u2019s all about. We would like to extend a mighty\u00a0Dolphin thank you to Best Sunshine and particularly the corporate social responsibility team.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In appreciation, Cabrera and Cruz had the MHS Glee Club stage a surprise serenade for the CSR team held at the administration building.<\/p>\n<p>The school\u2019s cheerleading team also put on a special surprise performance.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt actually meant a huge deal for the MHS dolphin alumni on our team. They felt a great deal in giving back to their alma mater,\u201d BSI CSR executive director Geri Dela Cruz said.<\/p>\n<p>She added, \u201cThere\u2019s always a greater feeling when good things are done.
