{"id":229588,"date":"2016-06-09T06:00:27","date_gmt":"2016-06-08T20:00:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=229588"},"modified":"2016-06-09T06:00:27","modified_gmt":"2016-06-08T20:00:27","slug":"guam-archbishop-says-hes-victim","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/guam-archbishop-says-hes-victim\/","title":{"rendered":"Guam archbishop says he\u2019s a victim"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>VATICAN CITY<\/strong> (AP)\u2014The Catholic archbishop of Guam is insisting he\u2019s a victim of a campaign to oust him and says he welcomes the appointment of a Vatican administrator to take over pending an investigation into allegations he sexually abused young boys decades ago. <\/p>\n<p>In a video shot in St. Peter\u2019s Square, Archbishop Anthony Apuron addressed himself to his flock in the Pacific U.S. territory, insisting he remained their archbishop and was a \u201cvictim of these horrible calumnies.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Pope Francis on Monday named a high-ranking Vatican official to take over the Agana archdiocese after abuse allegations against Apuron resurfaced in recent weeks.
