{"id":230491,"date":"2016-06-22T06:06:44","date_gmt":"2016-06-21T20:06:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=230491"},"modified":"2016-06-22T06:06:44","modified_gmt":"2016-06-21T20:06:44","slug":"community-briefs-june-22-2016","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/community-briefs-june-22-2016\/","title":{"rendered":"Community Briefs &#8211; June 22, 2016"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Military, law Enforcement to conduct training at South Finegayan, Naval Magazine<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>ASAN, Guam\u2014Military, federal, and local law enforcement will conduct training at the former South Finegayan housing area and at the Naval Base Guam Ordnance Annex (Naval Magazine) June 23.<\/p>\n<p>Local residents in Dededo and Santa Rita will hear helicopters and small arms with simulation ammunition between 6pm and 9pm. The training is part of the weeklong Exercise Tempest Wind.<\/p>\n<p>Tempest Wind is a routine exercise in which multinational ties with countries in the Pacific region are strengthened through military training. This year\u2019s exercise differs from previous years in that it is a domestic counterterrorism scenario designed to improve coordination and synchronization among U.S. military, U.S. interagency elements and local law enforcement in response to transnational terrorist threats to the homeland.<\/p>\n<p>For more information, contact the Joint Region Marianas Public Affairs Office at (671) 349-4055. (PR)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tanapag Middle School registration ongoing<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Tanapag Middle School registration for School Year 2016-2017 is now ongoing.  All students\u2014returning and new\u2014must submit a registration packet. Packets can be attained from the TMS main office. Office hours are from 7:30am to 4:30pm, Monday-Friday. All registration packets must be submitted in full to process enrollment. Deadline for registration is July 29.
