{"id":230692,"date":"2016-06-24T06:00:34","date_gmt":"2016-06-23T20:00:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=230692"},"modified":"2016-06-24T06:00:34","modified_gmt":"2016-06-23T20:00:34","slug":"nmc-offers-boot-camp-businesses-govt-agencies","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/nmc-offers-boot-camp-businesses-govt-agencies\/","title":{"rendered":"NMC offers IT Boot Camp  for businesses, govt agencies"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As part of its ongoing efforts to offer workforce enhancement programs, Northern Marianas College is offering an IT Boot Camp Training Program that allows participants an opportunity to advance their way toward an IT certification. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe IT Boot Camp Training will help enhance participants\u2019 career growth because the COMPTIA Certification that is earned from the program is a demonstration of talent, skills and knowledge of real-world IT solutions,\u201d said Jonathan Liwag, IT director at NMC. <\/p>\n<p>Upon completing the program, participant will be able to prove in practice their command of technology and leverage it to make any organization more technologically proficient and operationally efficient.<\/p>\n<p>For this first round of courses, NMC\u2019s Community Development Institute is offering the following  IT Bootcamp Training Courses:<\/p>\n<p><strong>A+ TRAINING COURSE:<\/strong><br \/>\nUpon successful completion of this 40-contact hour course, students will be able to:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Describe and Identify the internal components of a computer, Assemble and Disassemble a computer system<br \/>\n\u2022  Install and upgrade an operating system, Repair and Troubleshoot using system tools and diagnostic software<br \/>\n\u2022 Upgrade and repair laptop components based on customer needs, Perform preventive maintenance and be able to trouble components of a printer\/scanner.<br \/>\n\u2022 Install and configure a network; upgrade components and conduct preventive maintenance and perform advanced troubleshooting. <\/p>\n<p><strong>NETWORK+ TRAINING COURSE:<\/strong><br \/>\nUpon successful completion of this 40-contact hour course, students will be able to:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Compare the layers of the OSI and TCP\/IP models, Install and configure routers and switches<br \/>\n\u2022 Configure wireless network, Troubleshoot network devices<br \/>\n\u2022 Configure and implement SOHO network, Identify and install media types<br \/>\n\u2022 Troubleshoot physical connectivity problems and identify LAN technologies<br \/>\n\u2022 Perform Network management upgrades and installation, Install and configure network security applications<br \/>\n\u2022 Describe and understand network access security and encryption<br \/>\n\u2022 Describe and understand common threats, vulnerabilities and mitigation techniques, Install and configure basic firewalls<\/p>\n<p>Upon successfully completing the bootcamp training with a COMPTIA Certified Instructor, students will receive an NMC Certificate of Completion. The Northern Marianas College is an Academic CompTIA Partner and will provide each student who completes the training with vouchers for the COMPTIA IT Certification Exams. Training schedule:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 IT BootCamp Training Course &#8211; CompTIA A+:  July 11, 2016 to July 22, 2016<br \/>\n\u2022 IT BootCamp Training Course &#8211; ComTIA Network+:  July 25, 2016 to Aug. 5, 2016<\/p>\n<p>Both classes will be held at the Northern Marianas College from 8am to 12pm in Building W Room W-2.<\/p>\n<p>The total cost of the course is $1,500 per student per class.
