A cook at a restaurant in Garapan was arrested on Saturday for allegedly selling a total of 17.6 gross grams of methamphetamine or \u201cice\u201d during two buy-bust operations. <\/p>\n
Xiongying Xu, 47, was taken before Superior Court Associate Judge Joseph N. Camacho for bail hearing yesterday on charges of trafficking of controlled substance and illegal possession of controlled substance.<\/p>\n
Camacho imposed a $200,000 cash bail and set the preliminary hearing for July 5 at 1:30pm.<\/p>\n
Assistant public defender Michael Sato was appointed as counsel for Xu. Assistant attorney general Betsy Weintraub appeared for the government.<\/p>\n
CNMI Drug Enforcement Task Force Officer Rudolph C. Sablan Jr. stated in his report that a \u201ccooperating defendant\u201d managed to purchase 7 and 10.6 gross grams of \u201cice\u201d during buy-bust operations on Saturday afternoon and evening.<\/p>\n
Sablan said the seized substance was tested positive for the presence of methamphetamine.<\/p>\n
Sablan stated that last Thursday he and another DETF member interviewed the \u201ccooperating defendant\u201d regarding Xu\u2019s drug activities.<\/p>\n
The \u201ccooperating defendant\u201d disclosed that he\/she has been purchasing \u201cice\u201d from Xu for about five to six months now and that the last time was June 16 involving 25 grams worth $6,000. <\/p>\n
Sablan said during the operation on Saturday afternoon the \u201ccooperating defendant\u201d was given $1,200 money and was able to buy 7 gross grams of \u201cice\u201d from Xu inside Great Restaurant in Garapan.<\/p>\n
Sablan said during the second operation on Saturday night, the \u201ccooperating defendant\u201d ordered 25 grams of \u201cice\u201d from Xu.<\/p>\n
Sablan said the \u201ccooperating defendant\u201d only managed to buy 10.6 gross grams of \u201cice\u201d from Xu inside the defendant\u2019s car in the parking lot of the Korean Church in China Town.<\/p>\n
A marked police car later stopped Xu\u2019s car along Chalan Pale Arnold Road in front of J\u2019s Restaurant in Guao Rai, where they arrested him for drug charges. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
